Ok so where do we start, Pandemic!! has it stopped us.........no!!  so today we covered around 100miles + to pay tribute to our amazing midwives and our colleagues in maternity.  we are a fairly medium/large trust in the north east but cover a massive rural area as well as a town/city area.  Our morning started at 0730 where we left north Yorkshire and went to our local services to get our free Costa out of the WHSmith machine as we are avid coffee lovers and miss our costa!! We mentioned to the workers that we were celebrating IDM and they kindly donated a stack of stuff!! We visited our labour ward, AN/PN ward and PAU including our Community midwives! We then went to Bishop Auckland and dropped off to our Community teams, then a bit of a hike up to Shotley Bridge to visit Community teams again, then onto Chester-Le-Street to visit our community teams there too and finally to Durham and again to LW, AN/PN and PAU!! we clocked up some over 100 miles but it was totally worth it to see everyones faces light up with our lovely items!! they included sweet and savoury treats, cupcakes made by one of talented HCAs and refreshments and lastly some of our year of the midwife bags from the RCM and some of the Lanyards and pens, which make everyone so happy!!

Lastly we returned to our base at DMH to drop off some extra cupcakes and saw a poorly patient from a medical ward in the lift and gave her and her porter a much deserved creme egg!!! We are spoiled proud of our branch and our work family!!!! happy IDM 2020.

Sheffield

WPR for RCM Sheffield Branch, Claire Sayan, did a walk round of The Jessop Wing to celebrate International Day of the Midwife 2020. Sheffield is a large, tertiary unit but everybody knows everybody, so it has a lovely, supportive, family feel. Claire took around RCM IDM 2020 merchandise including pens, ski reels, pre-filled bags and lanyards as well as Sheffield Branch personalised water bottles, notebooks and of course, biscuits (well, we are midwives!!). We all work extremely hard and give our all, all of the time, but now, during this pandemic, more than ever, you are all showing just how amazing you are. The women of Sheffield are lucky to have you all #RCMSheffieldBranch #TeamSheffield #RCM #IDM2020 #Midwives2020 @SHCFundraising @SheffieldHosp @MidwivesRCM #InternationalDayOfTheMidwife #JessopWing
