Guernsey Branch
Had a lovely lunch with cakes and nibbles to celebrate International Day if the Midwife 2020 here in Guernsey on Loveridge Ward.
Canterbury and Thanet Branch
Our celebrations involved an amazing cake baked by midwife Jacki Foad and pictures coloured in by the children of St Lawrence’s CofE Junior Academy in Ramsgate and used as decorations. Pictured cutting the cake is our HOM Ursula
Bournemouth
So originally we had planned a grand picnic by our lake including stalls and face painting for our patients, staff and their families. Well Covid-19 scuppered those plans so we had to make a plan B! So we used a Spa Voucher that had been kindly donated and got all the staff to nominate who they felt deserved it. The nominations were drawn from a pot and our lovely Lucy Lawrence from antenatal clinic won it. Everyone who was nominated received a prize. There was also loads of goodies and loads of food! We had pastries, local strawberries, a cheesecake and KFC! Needless to say our bellies were full along with our hearts as we all joined together to celebrate our special day.
Oxford and Banbury
Oxford and Banbury branch celebrating #IDM2020, in these unprecedented times we delivered boxes of kindness and cake to say thank you to our hardworking teams all the year round not just through these testing times where everyone has pulled together even more than normal to ensure staff and patients are expertly cared for around the clock.
Willesborough
We had a 2 day celebration where we spread the RCM love!! Gave out the tote bags which were snapped up! We gave On the go goodie bags, which had pen, lanyard, latte sachet, cuppa soup, cereal bar or porridge sachet, bag of sweets and a lolly pop. We gave a little envelope containing sunflower seeds spreading the message than after the rain comes the flowers. We are asking people to post plant progress pictures. We gave candles with the quote shine bright. And our lovely H and S rep used her amazing Art skills and presented our head of midwifery with a poster to be displayed on the unit.
We were also very lucky to capture our future midwives on their first day which happened to be IDM 2020!! Also it was the RCM announcement for an award which our bereavement midwives were shortlisted. Our Head of midwifery presented a lovely plant to our bereavement midwife to say “ your a winner in our minds”
Poole
Poole RCM branch put on a great ‘social distancing’ day for our Maternity Staff to celebrate IDM 2020 in our ‘Nest’ aka ‘the Bubble’. We offered cakes, more cakes, goodie bags donated by Lush and Beebombs, relaxation time, calming music and hypnotherapy for all our staff in our lovely newly refurbished ‘Nest’ thanks to Captain Tom Moore fundraising.
Swindon
At the Great Western Hospital in Swindon we celebrated virtually by creating a video which highlighted reasons why midwives love their job so much.
