Glasgow hosts major midwifery education conference

The UK’s major midwifery education conference is coming to Glasgow. The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Education Conference is taking place in Glasgow on the 10th March 2017. It brings together midwives, midwife educators and midwifery students from across the UK to discuss current issues around midwifery education.
Among the topics being discussed are the England and Scotland Maternity Reviews and their impact on midwifery education, and what current developments mean for the education of future midwives.
Speakers include The RCM’s Director for Scotland Dr Mary Ross-Davie and Mary Renfrew, Professor of Mother and Infant Health / Associate Dean Research at Dundee University.
The education needs of future midwives are high on the agenda. The conference includes a sessions from Dr Jayne E Marshall, Associate Dean at the School of Midwifery, Kingston University London and Dr Christine Ferber, Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Manchester. Dr Kerry Jones will discuss the future education and development needs of midwives and educators.
Midwifery students will also be making a contribution with presentations on innovation in midwifery. Among the topics they will discuss are social media, caseloading midwifery and mental resilience and wellbeing.
The Royal College of Midwives Education Conference takes place on the 10th March 2017 at The Studio, 67 Hope Street, Glasgow G2 6AE.
