The RCM Legal Service is provided in association with Thompsons Solicitors, the UK's largest and longest established firm of personal injury and employment lawyers.
Members benefit from free legal advice and representation on a broad range of matters, including:

- Employment law (accessed through your RCM regional/National Officer)
- NMC case advice to all registered with the NMC (accessed through your RCM National/Regional Officer)
- 30 minutes of free legal advice for any non-work related issues

A will writing service for simple wills is available free of charge to members.
Members who wish to write a more complex will, or members’ families who wish to write a will, can benefit from discounted fixed fees, depending on the type of will required.

Conveyancing and probate services are offered to members and their families at reduced rates.

*Please note that the RCM Legal Service is not available for International and Affiliate Members. For Associate and Special Category Associate members, the RCM Legal Service is only available for matters which relate to the period in which the member was a full member of the RCM. Student Midwife members are entitled to RCM advice, support and representation for issues that arise in their maternity placement. This will be through their RCM workplace representative who may seek advice from their national/regional Officer. The NUS will provide representation in the University. We can only assist with queries that occur during your membership and may be unable to help with anything that predates this or occurred during a break in your membership.
