New charity fund to support elective placements

By Hollie Ewers on 19 September 2018

Members of the Canterbury Christ Church Students’ Union Midwifery Society (CCSU MidSoc) have created the Lucy Bannister Fund in remembrance and honour of fellow student midwife who passed away last year.

The fund, within the student union and controlled by MidSoc, will aim to provide financial support to student midwives looking to go on elective placements but who can’t afford to.

Another charity initiative held in Lucy’s name is the Bannister Ball, which is also organised by the CCSU MidSoc and aims to raise as much money in Lucy’s memory as possible.

All proceeds from this year’s MidSoc ‘Masquerade Bannister Ball’ will be deposited into the fund.

Tickets are on sale now for the event, which is set to take place on 17 November at Westgate Hall, Canterbury. Tickets are £30 for MidSoc members and £35 for non-members.

For more information on the fund and the ball, email ccsumidsoc@outlook.com, follow @CCSUMidSoc or go to the CCSU MidSoc Facebook page here.
