This course will focus on the current evidence surrounding the role of nutrition from preconception and pregnancy to early childhood. Lectures, workshops, and group discussions will develop a deeper knowledge of the role of nutrition in early life.

In particular the course will discuss:

  • Nutrition and body composition in the preconception period
  • The Preconception Partnership
  • Pregnant women with obesity
  • Micronutrients in pregnancy
  • Postpartum weight management
  • Milk feeding
  • Allergies in the early years
  • Childhood obesity
By the end of the course you will:
  • Have a good understanding of the importance of nutrition from preonception and pregnancy to early childhood
  • Be able to provide evidence based advice to the practical care of pregnant women and parent/guardians of young children.
  • Be awarded a certificate of attendance
Who is it for?
This course is designed for healthcare professionals who have close contact with women planning a pregnancy, pregnant and lactating women, and their infants, including doctors, pharmacists, midwives, nurses, and health visitors as well as nutritionists and dietitians. Current students are also welcome to apply.
