Biographies 

Sally Brown

Sally has worked as both a Qualified Nurse and Midwife for the past 18 years, recently completing her PGCE. She currently works as a Practice Facilitator, Associate Lecturer and also continues to work clinically. Sally works with drive, passion and commitment in her roles to support and develop Practice Supervisors and Assessors to provide Student Midwives with positive and meaningful clinical placements. Sally also jointly leads the multifaceted Prep for Practice programme, supporting newly qualified midwives through their challenging first year as a registrant.

Suzanne Hardacre

Suzanne has been Head of Midwifery at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board since 2015. Suzanne has led on a number of national and local initiatives during her career including the introduction of a pathway and training programme for Routine Enquiry in pregnancy into Domestic Abuse in Wales in 2005, the new model of Clinical Supervision for Midwives in Wales in 2017 and Chaired the All Wales Strategic Vision for Maternity Services in 2018-19.  In her role as Head of Midwifery, Suzanne has also implemented a Preceptorship Programme for Newly Qualified Midwives and strives to ensure that the health and well-being of staff are paramount through robust clinical supervision and support, in her spare time she is completing a professional doctorate which explores women’s experience of vaccination in pregnancy.

Fiona Howard

Fiona is a 2nd Year student midwife at the University of Plymouth. She is also a member of the RCM's Student Midwifery Forum and represents student midwives across the South of England. Fiona is passionate about providing individualised intrapartum care and has a keen interest in preventing birth trauma.
