Research showing more complications in pregnancy in older mothers shows need for more midwives says RCM

30 May 2017 Research from the University of British Columbia, Canada and colleagues in PLOS Medicine to be published today suggests that older mothers have higher rates of severe complications in childbirth.

RCM comments on ONS conception statistics

23 March 2017 Today the Office for National Statistics has published figures showing that conception rates in England and Wales, for women aged under 18, declined by 8% in 2015. Conception rates for women aged 30 and over have increased by 34%.

Pregnancy rates fall, but not for over-40s

29 March 2018 Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal that conception rates in 2016 decreased for women in all age groups, except for those aged 40 and over where the rate increased by 2%.
